Warning, not for the faint hearted.

SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND

I just finished watching the season finale, and this is my kinda season finale. No cliff hangers, there is closure for almost every dangling issue and just enough suspense on what to expect in season 2. Never in my life I felt so satisfied seeing so much blood spewing out of veins (I am sick) Everyone who died at the end DESERVED it. Period.

Here is something I always wonder while watching Spartacus:

  • What is the Effing wrong with the Romans? Seriously, why they got so excited seeing blood? Were they really that sick?
  • How much blood does human body SPEW out, I mean spew out as in blood out garden hose? and how long it will keep on spewing out like that?
  • Does blood really that vivid in RED, I mean really really RED
  • Where was Mira hiding all this while :p
  • Does all slaves in that period hmmm..... apparel-ly challenged?
  • I mean I still wondering, WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE ROMANS, I just keep on wondering that!

Glee

I am quite not sure why am I following this show. When I first watched the promo, yeah right another teen-high-school-musical-drama hybrid kinda show. Lame.

But then I got hooked. I can't explain why, is it the music? This show is packed with music from 60s to 90s. Listening ti it just brings me back to my childhood. Is it the dance? It has all the cool moves and just make you move you body. is it the cast? script? I can't quite tell.

It wasn't only the teens are full of drama, the adults are no less, Mr Shue and his marriage. Miss Pillsbury the hygiene freak, not to mention Sue Sylvester, whose only goal in life is to see the destruction of Glee club.

This is a typical "guilty pleasure" show. You kinda embarrassed that you watched it, but no matter what. you still do secretly!

One thing for sure, I hate this bitch. I hate her... I hate her... I hate her... I hate her... I hate her... VERY MUCH, I don't understand what her problem!

Frelling Cool Show!

This is what I am up to every night. I am a fan, but missed it when they showed it on Hallmark long time back (2002?).
Anyway, finally, I managed to download the entire season and also the final TV movie. It is a shame they discontinued the show. This is greatest Sci-Fi on tv where originality is concern.
Now that I am watching it I am afraid the day I reach the end of the series will arrive and  I will wanting more!

I Love You,Man.

I am Peter Klaven. Now I know what is wrong with me. It is a fact, my wife will agree. She always ask me how come you don't have best friend? or at least few male close friend? I couldn't answer that question. I have work colleagues, which we do stuffs together during office hour, but that's it, after office our we as good as strangers.
I got few friends at gym, then again it just Hi and Bye at the gym.
I have no close friends that I call simply to talk, or when I am excited over something or anything.
Shall I begin my man-date? ha ha ha.
Anyway, this movie is hilarious! It is a bromantic comedy.I was watching it alone, and was laughing out aloud all by my self like a crazy person. Paul Rudd is just damn funny. I recommend this to every guy and gal! Two thumbs up!

Slumdog Millionaire

People people people,

Listen to me, GO WATCH THIS MOVIE! it is not often movie like this is made. This is kinda movie that make you think about it even after hours/days you have watched it.

I felt sad, happy, angry all sort of emotion mixed and mingled together watching this movie. This depicts the true love story with even truer depiction of poverty in India as a background. All this while, while watching all the song and dance Bollywood movies, we never actually realize the true state of poverty in India. This, off course isn't a Bollywwod movie, it is by UK director, even the cast I think mostly UK born Indian.

It has been nominated for OSCAR, most blog I read syas this is definate a winner and my favourite composer, AR RAhman, has been nominated as Best Music Director for this, so what else I can say?

From IMDB:
Whats the movie about?
A Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers

Tagline: Love and money... You have mixed them both.
Awards: Nominated for 10 Oscars. Another 60 wins & 29 nominations. more...

Knocked up

Nice movie this one, as the title suggest it is about unplanned pregnancy.
This movie has lots of interesting quotes, the one I like the most is this one....

"Marriage is like that show ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, but it’s not funny. All the problems are the same, but you know instead of all the funny, pithy dialogue, everybody is really pissed off and tense."

so...

"Marriage is like an unfunny, tense version of Everybody Loves Raymond, but it doesn't last 22 minutes. It lasts forever."

I find this so damn funny and true at the same time!

Salam Maal Hijrah to all!

Number 1 station my a@$!!!!

After watching those really annoying advertisement on Astro promoting hitz.fm Morning Crew, I made a vow to myself, that I will never EVER listen to hitz.fm.
How desperate are they? The rating must have really drop terribly that they need to advertise that they are number one, and whenever the advertisement is on, I will frantically look for remote to change the channel, I just can't take it!

I had enough. I HATE RUDY AND JJ!!!

FLY FM is much much more better and not insulting as Hitz Morning Crew!

Mental note: To delete hitz.fm from memory in the car radio.

Updates.....

1. Test drove the new Persona, very nice. The boot is enormous! The handling is good, very quite inside, no vibration. The design is cool. Good car.

2. Sent my wedding watch for repair. it has been broken for a long time, the crown is missing, and no battery. Since it is Swiss watch, only the specialist shop could repair it, i have asked so many shop, none could repair. After 3 days, the shop called me, the repair cost will be RM380!!! He said, if this watch has sentimental value, it worth repairing or else buy a new one. Hmmm of course it is sentimental, it is the freaking wedding watch. But I asked not to proceeded, Maybe one day, when I am filthy rich, I will repair it.

3. Power outage in Wisma Consplant, so all home Fitness First members we upgraded to Passport (meaning we can go to any FF for that day). Went to FF Summit. it was huge! really nice, the free wight area was so big. Love it. Hmm should I change the membership to this branch? Had a great workout, and after that we and wife went shopping in S. Parade and I ate 1/2 chicken Nandos with rice. If I worked out like crazy, my appetite will be very 'healthy'

4. Fasted yesterday, and went for buka puasa at Big Plate. I oreder mixed grill and wife ordered just soup. And both of us couldn't finish the meal. it was a BIG plate indeed.

5. How can they end the season 3 of LOST like that? Frustrating isn't it. This is why I hate watching these series, they don't seems to end! (but I watch it nevertheless)

TV Addict

Prison Break.
At first, I found it quite boring, somewhere at the middle of season 1, it really started to get interesting. So I got the whole downloaded season 1 and 2 from my supplier. I watched whole of Season 1 and bit of season 2. Whoaaa really cool! How they ever going to win going against the crime committed by the President of the US of A? And they also killed Veronica, so who going to help them? Their dad?
p/s: I am such a big fan of Prison Break now that, I even follow the LINCOLN BURROWS hair style.

Lost.
And suddenly there is an invisible man ruling the island? Where are they driving the plot? What's next? They find Gilligan camp out somewhere in the island as well? no matter how ridiculous the story gets, it is still addictive.

Psych.
This is really cool and funny show. The investigation is really funny, not too heavy on the mind, really can relax watching this. How long he going to fool everyone that he is Psychic?

Save the cheerleader !!!

I slept at about 4 am last night, I thought I had the self control, but I have failed, try as I might to overcome the temptation, I have fallen to the dark side. My wife will be furious, she would be angry!!! But what can I do? I am just a man, with normal need and urges every guys has. I am ashamed of myself.
You see, I am a huge fan of HEROES. And I am well aware that I told that busy woman, that I will watch it old fashion way (on tv), and I am not going to watch the the whole downloaded episode in one go. But when my colleague in office dangled in front of me the DVD of the whole series up to Episode 18, I was just couldn't restrain myself from grabbing the DVD from him and making a copy.
And last nite, I told myself, ok just let watch one Episode and go to bed after that, but one after one episode, I just couldn't stop! They just end every episode at the most suspend part! Somehow I manage to force myself to stop at 4am at episode12. Woke up next morning at 11am, thank God it was my off day. Watched couple of episode, then it was time for Fri prayer, My keimanan really tested , but I managed to go to mosque, came back and sit in front of the laptop till episode 18. Now that I have watched episode 18, I am going crazy and my life will never be the same again (what an exaggeration !!!). I have become a fanatic.
My wife is worried whenever I talked about the cheerleader.

Please someone out there, we have world to save (or New York city more precisely) Who is with me?

Hebat sangat ke dapat makan malam dengan Anuar Zain tu?

Since January, I am working from Fri-Mon, from 1000-2100 (hopefully until February only). On weekends, I will be just working from home, and sometimes, even on Fri or Mon, I will be working from home if I don't feel going to office. The hall is my office, I'll be watching TV for 10 hours while working (or working while watching TV). I'm kinda become a couch potato and I have become very fond of watching TV lately for some reason*.

Below are my discoveries about my TV watching habits.

1. I can watch "Friends" for hundredth thousand time and I still wouldn't get bored and would still find it funny.
2. Heroes is excellent!
3. I hate watching that "Raja Lawak" advertisements.
4. They repeat the Nana Tanjung theme song so often, that I find myself singing it unconsciously.
5. I subscribed to the movie package and sometimes I thing they show absolutey rubbish, especially in the evening.
6. At certain hour (especially from 2-5pm) there is absolutely nothing to watch!.
7. I really hate it when, we are nicely surfing the channel and suddenly you accidentally hit the "Box Office" Channel (which I don't subscribe) and you need to wait for the damn thing to load before you can hit other channel.
8. I really don't see anything interesting in the "Table for Three", but my wife seem addicted to it.
9. When they going to show the new season of "Lost"?
10. I think I had enough of that "Makan malam bersama Anuar Zain" thingy, it is really getting to my nerves.
11. Ever since Astro migrated to Measat 3, I am unable to get certain channel, called Astro, and the very blur help desk said "Everything seems fine, I think the problem is at you end sir, we can send a technician over, that will cost RM50". Bull Shit isnt it? I told him why the hell i should pay, you upgraded your satellite, and now I need to pay RM 50?!!!
12. I find British comedy on Channel 26 is absolutely boring but somehow I still watch it.
13. I really don't like watching Amazing Race or Fear Factor that much.
14. I find it that I really like to watch those really slow and boring movies compared to action packed ones.
15. I can watch Charlie's Angels for millionth time and still get excited about it.
16. Unheard of before B-Class movies sometime can be interesting in a strange ways.

DON

This is the third time I am watching Hindi movie in Cinema, 1st on was Hum Aapne Ee Kon (wrong spelling), I was accompanying my sisters for this 4 hour movie, 2nd was Rain Coat, my choice, just because Aishwarya in it and got all the cursing in the world from wife because it was not an ordinary song and dance Bollywood flick. And the latest was DON.

Wow! This movie is GOOD! Action packed, and was not a love story (thank God!)
Shoot entirely in Malaysia..... Can see few Malaysian actors showing their 'talent' as movie prop, Shahrudin Thambi as mute police inspector ( I think since he has nothing much to say) and Shamseer Sidhu as Don's gang member (why his name keep on appearing in my blog?).

I have to say that they have portrayed Malaysia as a well developed country, but all the scenes seem to be revolving around Petronas Twin Tower. A lot of Proton cars were smashed (proton is one of the sponsor).

The story has a twist in twist. I don't want to elaborate, it will spoil the surprise. Priyanka Chopra was really hot and her acting was good. Even I hate SRK, have to admit that he had played the character rather well.

I recommend this movie to patriotic Malaysians who want to see how Malaysia is portrayed in Bollywood flick.

I always wonder, outsiders can always manage to make full use of Malaysian scenery in filming, while Malaysia director always end up shooting crappy scenes.

What A Revenge!

I am emotionally disturbed! It has turned my world upside down! And I my perceptions towards Darth Vader has changed completely and I'll never watch the original Trilogy in the same way again.

Revenge of the Sith
In my opinion, this is the best of the prequels and probably best Star Wars (even better than Empire Strikes Back.... in my opinion, but there are many out there who still thinks ESB is still the best) It was the only episode in all prequels that actually moved the audience so emotional.

This movie made me angry, sad and happy all at one time. Even I knew the plot of the story long before, the movie had me at the edge of the seat from start till end (apart from the reason that I really need to piss and no way I am going to leave to toilet, because I wanted to absorb every nano second of that digital marvel).

The first think that I wanted to do right after watching ROTS is go back home and watch A New Hope (ANH), just to make myself feel better and that there is still hope to restore the order of the Galaxy. But too bad I left my previous trilogy back in my hometown, I hope it still be in one piece, knowing how rough my nephews are with CDs.

George Lucas is definitely a genius and I heard that if ROTS becomes the biggest box office of the year, he will most probably continue with Episode 7 (Shadow of the Empire form book by Steve Perry if I am not mistaken) , 8 and 9. And there is also Star Wars TV series to look forward to, the series is about what happen between the period of the ROTS and ANH.

And May the force be with you!

And May The Force Be With You....

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is opening this week. I am so excited that no words can describes it. It is opening on 19th May, one day after my birthday (May 18th). I wonder why all Star Wars Movies (I am talking about the prequals only) opening very close to my birthday? Is this George Lucas Birthday treat to me? :) Off course no, I heard that his bithday falls somewhere in May (16th if I am not mistaken, and he is 61 this year, unbelieveable!!!).
If somebody really want to get a birthday gift that I would REALLY REALLY appreciate, that would be the opening ticket to the Revenge of the Sith (hints... hints...)

Being a Skywakler clansmen myself(he he he), I am a major Star Wars junky, I dig everything on Star Wars. I still remember back in college when The Phantom Menace opening, I practically watched the trailer everday and collected every magazines that had even a very little TPM articles in it. Since all my buddies that time was a SW fans as well, all we talked about that time was Star Wars, Star Wars and Star Wars.

A friend of mine queued at TGV KLCC for hours to get us the tickets. Not only we were managed to watched the TPM on the opening day, we manage to watched the midnight show the day before as well, and the next day we watched it again... I guess in the period of 48 hrs, we watched it 3 times.... in theatre! At the end I watched TPM 7 times in cinema, that time I was doing industrial training in Motorola KL, and spent the allowance money on Star Wars. It was so crazy then, but now I have slowed down. I still follows and read every production detail, but not as crazy as last time, most probably because I seldom keep in touch with my college friends so much nowadays.....everybody seem so busy!

Let list down all the Jedis in IIUMENGINE96-2000

1. Kyrill - Major fan, he knows everything on SW, no point arguing with him about SW, he's the master.
2. Bajang - A Padawan...even after all this years.....
3. Yan Ya - He still insisted on watching TPM even he had final on 'Graphics' the next day
4. Emma - One of the more knowledgeable female Jedi
5. Chai - Another female Jedi, who travels from Sabah to KL to catch The Attack of the Clones
6. MTLR - Watches all the prequels in pirated VCDs first, much to annoyance of the rest of the Jedis
7. Mahathir - (President of MGS.. hahaha... please dont even bother ask what it is stands for)
I have the strong feeling that I have missed out someone........

We made a pack back then that when E2 releases, we would all gather to watched it together..... but at the end it was just me and Kyrill... due to unavoidable circumstances.......

Stupid TV Shows...

This has been bugging me for months, I guess I have to get it out of my system!
Who watches 'The Simple Life" and "Growing Up Gotti" anyway? It is so stupid and insults the viewers' intelligent!

This is complete waste of our air time and even more complete waste of viewers' precious time.
Seriously.... Who is Victoria Gotti and why should we care about her life? It is not even remotely interesting. She have this 3 sons who are completely spoilt to the max.... real brats! The TV add says that There is a queen named Victoria lives in a castle with 3 princes!!! It suppose to be how 'hard' she have to work bringing up her spoilt brats and how she struggles with her love life. If you are multimillionaire, I guess it would be really 'hard' waking up before noon (after partying all nite) to prepare breakfast for your own kids. It really make me wanna puke...please.... I watched it once, and that 30 min of my life I am never getting back.

And don't even let me start with Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. I guess if you are born with not an ounce of talent in your bone, you have to come up with something lame like this stupid 'reality show' to gain popularity (Hmmm I guess the hot steaming sex video Paris' ex-bf releases wasn't enough for her to gain popularity) What is so interesting watching 2 rich and spoilt girls going town to town making fun of other people professions/the way the make their livings? What they know about hard work and actually earning for living? Seriously...somebody please enlighten me... I am so confused...is it considered 'in' nowadays?
No wonder Matt and Trey (South Park creators) dedicated a whole episode for them in "Stupid Spoiled Whore" .......Serve them right if you ask me!

Paris in South Park....isn't she lovely?

On the positive sides..... DON"T even miss the LOST, it is so interesting..... many had tried to produce show about bunch of people stranded in a mysterious island, but this is the best so far!
And American Idol off course....which I didn't miss once this season....... Whatever America voted, Nadia Turner is my Idol, it is sad that such a talented singer have to walk home so early in the show.

Just Imagine.....

I think John Lennon is the greatest singer ever. PERIOD

Imagine
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

-John Lennon

Backmasking (hidden message in songs, if played backwards)

I was skeptical about this until I actually heard the subliminal messages! It is just creepy! Some are definitely intentional but most are pure coincidence.

These are few examples, Well I am not going write those subliminal messages here, check it out yourselves at this site:

Creepy huh!

Dancing Queen..... Sweeeeeet!

I am a big...huge South Park Fan. I'll eagerly wait for each episodes to be available to be downloaded every week. And I'll watch it over and over it again. I'll even read the transcripts and the voice talents of each episodes.
Many regards SP as a vulgar show, but, I would say, it depend mainly on how you look at it. I think the show have tackled so many current issue, outspoken on most global issues.

For instance, there will be at least one "moral of the story'' at the end of the show.

Sometimes it would very intelligent such as:
"No, no. You know who was right all along? The Mongolians. They knew that you just can't wall yourself off from the outside world. Putting walls up never helps anything. Tearing them down brings us together. "
(When the South Parks parents took an extreme action by building a "Great Wall" around the town, to prevent Child Abduction. The wall, however destroyed by the Mongolians who appeared out of nowhere)
from episodes Episode 611 - Child Abduction is Not Funny.

Or it can be plain stupid, such as:
"Nobody should have the kind of power Barbara Streisand wanted!"
(When Barbara Streisand transformed herself into a giant monster and tried to take over the world)
from Episode 112 - Mecha Streisand.

Both are simple plain truth...nobody can argue with that ;)

What I really want to talk about today is WING, the latest episode from season 9.
I bet my life that nobody heard of Mrs Wing before. She migrated to New Zealand with her family about ten years ago from Hong Kong. She have been learning singing in New Zealand and doing performances in Rest Homes and Hospitals and occasionally promotional concerts.

Her songs are funny..... If you think William Hung is funny...well think again!
But unlike William Hung who tries to be funny, Mrs Wing really gives her all for all her album.... (yup, she cut 9 albums already!)
All of her songs are cover versions (of Beatles, Phantom of Opera..etc)

And ever since South Park dedicated an whole episode her, her popularity has grown so much that she is so busy trying to keep up with Radio and TV interviews, not only in New Zealand but in the US and Europe as well.

If you feel down and sad, and need cheering up, listen to her music, it will put smile back to your face.... I SWEAR!!!!

You can download the sample song from http://www.wingtunes.com/public/default.aspx

Raincoat

Yesterday for the first time, me and wife went to watch a Hindi movie, it's called Raincoat. It was...er..er....different. I am not a huge bollywood fan, but I am fan of Aishwarya Rai and I have watched my share of hindi movies to give my review here........ let me warn you, this is soooo unlike other hindi movies.

If you decided to watch this movie, first of all, forget all the streotyping you had on Hindi movies...forget.........forget.......forget !!!!

Fist of all I don't think it as a 'movie', it is more appropriate to be called a 'stage theatre' on celluloid. Even in the opening credit, the actors are introduced as 'players' instead of 'actor/actress'.

The movie... I mean the 'play' consist of basically only 2 sets, one in Niroo's house, the other one in Mannu's freiend house, the rest are a bit of flash back here and there about their life in village.

The entire movie is basically converstion between Niroo and Mannu, confessing their feelings and emotion to each other in just an afternoon. Imagine that!!! I was sitting there in the theatre and only scene watch is Niroo's dark and somewhat lavish looking house ( the fact is the house is a wreck!!!)

But interestingly, even they lied to each other on their entire conversation, the care the have for each other is obvious, both didn't want to admit their failure in life due to thier ego (or is it just because they dont't want to dissapoint each other). It is very ironic...really.

Since this is shot in stage play aura, there is a lot of non-human characters, the one I liked the most and also played major role in the movies are:-

1) The Raincoat
Obviously....from the movie title, the raincoat is one of the main character, it act as almost bridge of honest communication between Niroo and Mannu since every one of thier verbal communication is based on lies.

2) Niroo's neck chain
From the beginning of the movie, the chain Niroo was wearing stands out prominently, it is impossible not to notice it. At the the end it is the symbol of love Niroo had for Mannu.

Conclusion:
This is kind of movie that even long after you watched it, you still think about it. It really make you think. The movie ended so suddenly that you will be saying "What the ......." But after that you can't stop thinking about the character's emotion and what will become of them.

Verdict:
If you are a huge Bollywood fan, I DON'T recommend this movie to you at all. You will be dissapointed.
If you are looking for movie that will make you ponders the meaning of life and seeking something different to watch, then I dare recommend you this movie!!!
